Weekly status update template

A team update people actually read: what's done, what's next, what's blocked and what you need, in under a minute.

When to use it

  • Updates to a manager or a client on a running project
  • Handing a project to someone for a week

- Fixed the broken signup link on mobile.

- Start the onboarding emails by Wednesday.

Blocked
- Menu page, waiting on the client for prices.

Tips

  • Lead with done. It's what people skim for, and it shows the week moved.
  • Name who you're waiting on in Blocked. A blocker with no name rarely gets unblocked.
  • Ask for one specific thing in Need help with, with a date.
